Shown is a park shelter at Red Wing Park in 1980. The land for the park was acquired around 1930. Prior to its purchase, it was some kind of farm. The shelter in this photo is built like a teepee.
Mount Trashmore Municipal Park opened to the public in 1974. The mound of garbage layered with soil and overseeding was designed as a waste disposal with minimal polluting of the city's shallow groundwater, and also provides a recreation facility.
